Alaska & Hawaiian Airline Ski and Snowboard Team is a nonprofit organization, focusing on Alpine skiing, snowboarding, and Nordic skiing for current and retired employees (along with spouses, partners, and significant others) of Alaska and Hawaiian, former Virgin America, and Jet America Airlines. We welcome skiers and borders of all abilities, however for competing on the racing team members need to have advanced skiing or snowboarding boarding abilities and be current or retired employees. We do encourage non-racers to support and cheer on our fellow teammates who are racing.  Our team is part of two organizations. The first is a North American Airlines skiing Federation (NAASF), which is comprised of ski teams representing many of the airlines here in North America. NASF sponsors at least three domestic ski weeks, each winter consisting of Alpine Giant Slalom and Slalom, Snowboard Slalom, and Nordic (cross country) races. Of course there is skiing and snowboarding boarding for non racers and plenty of social events. The other organization is the International Airlines Ski Federation (IASF), which was founded in the winter of 1959/1960 at  Arctic Valley in Anchorage, Alaska. A couple of years later it moved a few dozen miles away to Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood Alaska. Of course Alaska Airlines was one of the original founding members that included Pan-American Airways, Swiss Air, SAS, Lufthansa, KLM, Northwest Finnair, Japan Airlines, United, Air France, and Austrian Airlines. The IASF has expanded into dozens of airlines from Europe, North America, Japan, Australia, and even the UAE. The IASF annual ski week event is held in March sometimes in February. On even years it is held in Europe and on odd years in North America. At least once a decade it is held in Japan. To compete and race at the IASF World Airlines Ski Championship (WASC), team members must be active or retired employees. As with the NAASF,  spouses, and partners and significant others are welcome to participate in the social events, free time skiing and snowboarding.
